Saylorsburg, PA., September 19th, 2012:  Borgers OctoberFest Fall Brawl Champ Kart $500 To Win October 13 as Part Of Green Flag Driving Experience Borgers Asphalt OctoberFest 2012.

The number “13” may be considered by some to be unlucky but October 13 will prove to be very lucky for a Champ Kart racer at Borgers Speedway OctoberFest Fall Brawl presented by Long Island Pipe and It’s Affiliate Companies, Neil Supply, NJ-GEM Fab-Lansdale Nipples-National Groove-Albany Pipe-Becca Corp.

The JP Curry Motorsports promoted event will consist of 2---10 lap heats and a 25 lap feature for the Champ Kart 425 Flatheads. A pill draw will line up the first round of heats with an invert of the first round pill draw to line up the second round of heats. Feature starting position will be determined by an average of the two heat finishes. Highest heat finish will be the tie breaker in case of a tie in the heat finishes.

Gates open at 11:00 a.m. with a 1:15 p.m. early practice. 2:00 p.m. Drivers Meeting followed by practice, heats, and feature. The two rounds of heats will be alternated with the rest of the Kart program and the A Main will be run after the Kart features.

Elloree is not about to take a backseat to her famous Kart racing brothers Scott and Sam and will be looking to make it win number two of the 2012 racing season at Borgers. With father Art turning the wrenches Elloree will be a real threat in this Kid Kart Classic.

Saylorsburg, PA., September 18th, 2012: Borgers Speedway will be running a six week point series for all Kart classes with our OctoberFest Series starting September 22. Each class will compete for an OctoberFest 2012 Championship trophy; there will be one drop week during the series which will drop your lowest finish. DQ’s cannot be used for the drop week. To be eligible you must run at least four of the six races. There will be a fifty point bonus for perfect attendance running all six races. The Championship series is not dependant on car count. If there is one Kart in your class and you run four of the six weeks you are the Champion. There will be a $5.00 increase in entry fee for this series.

A Champ Kart money race will be run. We will also run a money race for an open kart class to be determined along with purse and date.

Saylorsburg, PA., September 15th, 2012:  Joe Agnello, Tim VanHorn, and Marc Rogers visited Borgers Speedway victory lane for the first time while the Quarter Midgets came “Thundering In.”

A total of twelve Quarter Midgets broke ground in the initial test of what will be a tremendous addition to the weekly racing excitement at Borgers Speedway. The powerful Quarter Midgets caught on quick to the newly created mini oval and the response was unanimous. “We Love It”

Speedway owner Glenn Borger, “the Quarter Midgets are a welcome addition to our family or racers at Borgers Speedway. I was very impressed with the skill and professionalism these racers and their parents showed. We are looking for big things to happen with the Quarter Midgets in the future at Borgers Speedway.”

Joe Agnello has been one of Borgers Speedway’s most loyal competitors both in Wingless 600 Sprints and in his son Joey’s Kid Kart racing career. While son Joey has been a multi feature winner in the Kid Karts victory lane at Borgers for Joe sr. has always been elusive. Today that would all change.

At the drop of the green in Hoosier Racing Tires Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints it was Mike Fillbrunn first to turn one followed by Joe Agnello and Marc Yoder. Soon a wheel to wheel battle would develop between Fillbrunn and Agnello with Agnello ducking under Fillbrunn going into turn one on lap twelve for the lead. Fillbrunn hung on Agnello’s rear bumper the remaining laps but Agnello was not to be shaken as he took his first Borgers checkered flag. Fillbrunn was second followed by Yoder.

Tim VanHorn was the Borgers Speedway Hoosier Racing Tires XCEL 600 Modified point champion but a visit to victory lane had not been notched in his record book. VanHorn jumped to an early lead over Shannon Maustellar and led every lap to take his first win.

In Hoosier Racing tires TQ’s Marc Rogers led every lap to take his first win.

All Star Slingshots saw Al Hauptman take the lead going into turn one with Steve Heckman on his right side. The two veteran racers raced side by side the first ten laps until Hauptman opened a slight lead. As the laps wound down Heckman tried to snatch first place from Hauptman but it was not to be. Hauptman took his second win of the year followed by Heckman, Tom Hennessey, Doc Lapicki, and Justin Zucal.

Saylorsburg, PA., September 12th, 2012:  The excitement is growing as the Kid Kart Racers gear up for the First Annual Back To School Kid Kart 25 September 29 during week number two of Green Flag Driving Experience Borgers Speedway Asphalt OctoberFest 2012.

A “Who’s Who” in Kid Kart Racing is expected to take the green flag during this first ever event. Racers already signed up include Borgers 2012 Kid Kart Point Champion Meredith Howell, Liam O.Connor, Collin O’Connor, Cody Quagliato, Tommy Kendel, Alyssa Waldman, and Ben Richards. Joey Agnello who is recovering from a recent racing accident will be Grand Marshall for the event and issue the command “Ladies and Gentlemen Start Your Engines.”

There will be an autograph session, Driver interviews, and goodie bags for all the competitors capped off by a 25 lap feature event. This event will be run during the Big Car portion of the night to insure maximum exposure for the kids.

Sophie Azzalina has been named Lil. Ms Borgers Speedway for the event and will present trophies to all the drivers in victory lane. Sophie, a seven year old second grader from Saylorsburg, Pa., is no stranger to Borgers Speedway Victory Lane as she has shared victory lane honors with her brothers Zac and Brandon. The Azzalina brothers, who are both accomplished Wingless 600 Sprint drivers, have won numerous feature events in Slingshots and Wingless 600 Sprints during the dirt days at Borgers. While Borgers Speedway has had numerous Ms. Borgers Speedways throughout the years Sophie will be the first Lil. Ms. Borgers.

Another young lady playing a big part in this event will be 12 year old Kaylee O’Connor. Kaylee will be in the starter’s stand assisting the flag man during this race. Kaylee will throw the green flag starting the race and give the half way, two to go, one to go, and all important checkered flag.

Plan on being at Borgers Speedway September 29 to see the great driving talents of these kids who will guarantee a bright future for racing for years to come at Borgers Speedway. Saylorsburg, PA., September 12th, 2012:  Little Borgers Ready To Take Flight as JPL Synthetic Performance Lubricants, and Strapped In Racing Magazine Join Sponsor List For Green Flag Driving Experience Borgers Asphalt OctoberFest 2012.

With the addition of the Kart Road Course and Infield Mini Oval Borgers Speedway may soon need to change its name to Borgers Speedway Motorsports Park. The water barriers and cones have been delivered and Borgers Karting Director Dan Shupp has set up the infield road course. All Karters will be allowed to test the course two at a time during the early practice session at 1:15 p.m. Testing will also continue after the day’s events.

The action will then shift to the Borgers Mini Oval as the Light 160 and Light World Formula Quarter Midgets will take to the newly created oval with practice, heats, and features. This is all in preparation for the November 17 Starz of Tomorrow Borgers Speedway Quarter Midget Nationals.

The Mini Oval also opens the door for Kid Karts and Junior Kart classes who have expressed an interest in running the smaller track. We would like to get some Karts on the Mini Oval and Dan Shupp will evaluate the test session and make the decision when to try some races on the Mini Oval.

Speedway Owner Glenn Borger, “we knew the transition from dirt to asphalt would be tough and we feel we are making a lot of progress in that direction. People are giving us a try and like what they see and we are here to stay. My staff is thinking outside the box and we feel the Mini Oval and Road Course will be a great asset to our Karting and Quarter Midget program.”

As the clock ticks closer to the First Annual Green Flag Driving Experience Borgers Asphalt OctoberFest 2012 the sponsorship list is growing. SPL Performance Lubricants has added $100 to the Karting events and Mike Feltenberger of Strapped In Racing Magazine in celebration of its 10^th. Anniversary has kicked in $25 for 10^th place finisher in the All-Star Slingshot tour race and $25 for 10^th place in the Junior Slingshot tour race.

At last count and growing $4500 in sponsorship money plus another $1000 in parts and gift certificates has been secured for the six race series starting September 22 and running through October.

Saylorsburg, PA., September 2nd, 2012: An evening of high emotion capped the 2012 point season and opened the door for the much anticipated Green Flag Driving Experience Borgers Speedway OctoberFest Series which begins September 22. Gary Conkling and associates at Green Flag Driving Experience have signed on as the prime sponsor of the OctoberFest Series along with fourteen other associate sponsors which will be announced later next week.

In All-Star Slingshot action Tom Hennessey led the field to turn one followed by Mike Lapicki and Scott Dinin. Justin Zucal got past Dinin on lap two but it was Hennessey who was in command. In his best run of the season Hennessey appeared to be headed for his first asphalt win when a blown engine sidelined him on lap five. On the restart it was Lapicki with Dinin hot on his tail. Soon Zucal turned up the steam on Dinin and made the pass for second in the closing laps. Lapicki would prove to be too strong and took his first feature win of 2012 followed by Zucal, Dinin, David Morrell, and Tom Hennessey.

Hoosier Racing Tires Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints saw Rob Vivona continue his domination. Mike Fiibrunn who has played bridesmaid to Vivona all season finished second followed by Joe Agnello and Jason Hentrick.

Shannon Maustellaer won the Hoosier Racing Tires XCEL 600 Modifieds.

The Borgers 2012 Point Season ended today with champions crowned in all divisions.

Don “The Snake” Zrinski proved you don’t have to be a kid to be fast at Borgers winning five features and the Hoosier Racing tires TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprint Championship.

Rob Vivona shared victory lane only with Matt Janisch winning the Hoosier Racing Tires Wingless Dirt 600 Championship. Vivona who was virtually unbeatable definitely had the best season of his career.

Justin Zucal raced 270 Sprints with his father Ed for many years at Borgers when the track was dirt. Justin switched to the AllStar Slingshots a few years ago and the move proved to be right as he picked up the Borgers 2012 AllStar Slingshot championship.

Tim VanHorn became a steady runner and a man to be reckoned with in the Hoosier Racing Tires XCEL 600 Modifieds picking up the season championship.

While only one driver can be the winner in each class every driver that competed in each class this year at Borgers is a winner. Everyone gave it their best taking a chance on a new racetrack that had many new challenges. Everyone stood up and met the challenge and the management and staff at Borgers Speedway is proud of every one of you. You were the “Explorers” in a strange new world and all of you are living proof the new world was conquered and we are here to stay. Give yourself a round of applause because you all had a part in the beginning of something big that will get bigger and better each year. To all of the drivers, owners, crews, families, and fans a job well done.

Good to see Joey Agnello at the track looking and feeling good. Joey is very excited about getting back behind the wheel of his Kid Kart.

Racing will continue as normal the next two weeks without point racing. September 22 starts the Green Flag Driving Experience Borgers Speedway OctoberFest series which will run for six weeks. Saylorsburg, PA., August 25th, 2012:  A race can change in a heartbeat and that is just what happened in Hoosier Racing Tires TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints at Borgers Speedway Saturday evening . While Blu Metz experienced both “the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat” coming out of turn four on the checkered flag lap Don Zrinski was in the right place at the right time.

At the drop of the green it was Zrinski, Stephen Boland and Rob Vivona to turn one. Vivona brought out the yellow on lap two and it was Metz to third on the restart. It would not take long for a three car battle for the lead developed between Zrinski, Marc Rogers , and Metz. Metz took over the lead when a tangle in turn three between Zrinski and Rogers sent them to the rear. This moved Boland to second behind Metz for the restart. Zrinski and Rogers made the pass on Boland two laps later with their sights on Metz. Lap twenty Rogers got by Zrinski setting up a three car “Battle Royale” between Met, Rogers, and Zrinski. The final five laps proved to be a real “nail biter” with Metz holding off the charge by Rogers. Coming out of turn four on the last lap with the checkered flag waving and victory in site for Metz contact was made resulting in Metz and Rogers spinning to the infield with Zrinski slipping by to take the win. Stephen Boland was second followed by Metz, Rogers, and Vivona.

Jason Harman made it two in a row in All-Star Slingshots but it was not easy task. Harman won the sprint to turn one followed by Kurt Bettler and Al Hauptman. Going into turn two the front runners got together resulting in Bettler and Hauptman going to the rear. On the restart Harman led the way followed by Tom Arntz and Tom Hennessey. Arntz running strong was on the hunt for Harman until a dragging front bumped forced Arntz into a black flag situation. While all this was taking place Bettler and Hauptman were making a strong run from the rear and rejoined the chase on Harman. With Bettler and Hauptman coming on strong there was not enough laps left to catch Harman. Harman took the win followed by Bettler, Hauptman, Ton Hennessey, and Hunter Smith. A post race tech of the top three finishers found everyone legal.

Rob Vivona led every lap to win the Hoosier Racing Tires Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints over Mike Fillbrunn, Ed Wilberger Sr., Joe Yaccarino, and Joe Agnello.

A very strong run by Ed Wilberger Sr. netted him a third place finish in Dirt 600 Sprints. His best finish of the season.

Stephen Boland looking stronger each week after coming back from his spectacular early season flip in turn one.

Tom Hennessey having a very strong season looks to be a shoe in for third place points in All-Star Slingshots.

First time appearances this season in the All-Star Slingshots by Kurt Bettler, Tom Arntz, Hunter Smith, and David Morrrell made for one of the best Slingshot races of the season.

With one week left in the 2012 point season Don Zrinski has the TQ championship locked up. Mike Fillbrunn still has a slight mathematical chance of catching Rob Vivona in Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints. The battle between All-Star Slingshot point leader Justin Zucal and Jason Harman will go right down to the wire. Tim VanHorn has already won the XCEL 600 Modified championship.

At the completion of Saturdays program Borgers Speedway Kart Director Dan Shupp set up a temporary road coarse utilizing turns one and two and the infield area. Dan Shupp, “I have been getting some requests from Junior drivers that would like to see some road course racing at Borgers. I set up the course and with the help of Borgers Speedway marketing director Brendan OcOnnor and his sons turned some laps.” I think this shows a lot of promise and we will be trying it with the Kid Karts and Juniors after the point season ends.”

Karts and Microstocks will run along with the big cars during the six week OctoberFest Series starting September 22. We are planning some money races for various Karting classes. Stay tuned for details.

Saylorsburg, PA., August 22nd, 2012:  Borgers Speedway Owner Glenn Borger and the staff at Borgers Speedway welcome Ed Pensyl to the Borgers Speedway team. Glenn Borger “ we are pleased to have Ed on the Borgers Speedway team as we expand our plans for the rest of the 2012 season and the 2013 racing season. We have also scheduled a major Quarter Midget event for November 17 and if that race works as we expect we may also schedule another event early in the 2013 season. For that event we will not be able to run our regular program but other then that date our schedule will not change.”

Ed Pensyl has been a prominent figure in Quarter Midget racing for twenty years owning and operating Pensyl Enterprises which deals in quarter midget fabrication and parts supplying. Ed also is a key figure in the West End Fairgrounds Quarter Midget Club.

Co-promoter Bob Snyder, “ I have known Ed for about twenty years and I am certain he will be a great asset to Borgers Speedway not just with the Quarter Midgets but the marketing and future of our speedway. Along with Ed, Brendan OcConnor has also become a very important part of Borgers Speedwy with his expertise in marketing.”

Contrary to rumors circulating we will not change our Three Quarter Midget program. It will continue in the path we have been following this season. Blu Metz, owner of Metz Racing Rides For Rent has guided Borgers Speedway in a direction we feel will bring back Three Quarter Midget racing to it’s glorious past. There are plenty of cars sitting in garages that have been waiting for a local track close to home. Along with Blu’s ideas of keeping the cost of racing in line we feel with our rules package we can achieve our goal of building car counts. People need to know that we are for real and we are here to stay.

S&S Speedways and Hamlin Speedway promoter Randy Smith will be supplying Slingshot Parts and Tires at Borgers Speedway. With the additional racers planning on running our fall series Randy will have the needed parts and tires in stock.

Plans are well underway for Borgers Asphalt OctoberFest and we have been meeting this week to finalize plans. Sponsorship has been rolling in and a major event sponsor will be announced shortly. The six races series will start September 22 and run through the month of October. There will be one drop week as not to interfere with Lindas Nationals. Bob Snyder, “after last night’s meeting with Glenn everyone is very excited how OctoberFest and plans for the 2013 season are coming together. Glenn has a staff of good people with a lot of good ideas with one common goal to make Borgers Speedway work.”

Karts and MicroStocks will run along with the OctoberFest events. Money races are being planned for the bigger classes.

Saylorsburg, PA., August 11th, 2012:  In a history making day at Borgers Speedway, which may not be matched at any other racetrack, Rob Vivona did the impossible. Rob won two Wingless Dirt 600 Sprint heats, two TQ heats, two Wingless Dirt 600 Sprint features, and one TQ feature and came short of winning the second TQ feature when brake problems struck with three laps to go. To top that Rob led every lap of every heat and feature with the exception of the last three laps of the second TQ feature. Vivona piloted the potent F8 Metz Racing TQ while wheeling his own Dirt 600.

Hoosier Racing Tires Wingless Dirt 600 Sprint action saw Rob Vivona lead every lap to win the makeup feature over Joe Agnello, Mike Fillburn, David Beiler, Mark Yoder.

Vivona repeated his victory in feature two over Mike Fillburn, Joe Agnello, and Joe Yaccarino.

In Hoosier Racing Tires TQ feature one Vivona jumped to an early lead and never looked back. Don Zrinski gave chase to Vivona but had to settle for second followed by Tim Proctor, Darren Schuler, and Mark Rogers.

In the second feature Vivona jumped to an early lead followed by Zrinski and Proctor. Zrinski would run side by side with Vivona a number of times until Zrinski and Proctor slipped by Vivona when his brakes failed with three laps to go. Zrinski took the win followed by Proctor, Vivona, and Darren Schuler. In his first appearance at Borgers Speedway Tim Proctor had a very good day with a second and third place finish.

A strong field of Hoosier Racing tires XCEL 600 Modifieds took starter Chris Walk’s green flag with Tim VanHorn winning the sprint to turn one followed by Kyle Kocher and Scott Washburn. In a bold move Washburn passed Kocher coming out of turn two with his sights set on VanHorn. Lap three Shaun Burd made the pass on Kocher for third. This would turn into a hard fought duel with VanHorn and Washburn and Washburn taking the lead on lap seventeen followed by Burd. Burd turned up the steam but could not catch Washburn. Washburn took the win followed by Burd, VanHorn, BJ Scherff, Kocher, Ronnie Molner, Ricky Raisner Jr., and John Lakatos. Always putting on an exciting show the “fan favorite” XCEL 600 Modifieds with increasing car counts will keep the fans on the edge of their seats in weeks to come.

When the All-star Slingshot of Matt Dealaman pulls into the pits the competiton knows they are in for a real challenge and this week Matt put his father Scott behind the wheel of the 07X. Matt lived up to his reputation of being the “Real Deal” winning both AllStar Sliongshot mains. In feature one Dealaman started on the pole and led lap one followed by Mike Lapicki, and Juston Zucal. By lap three Ton Hennessey moved into third spot. On a restart Hennessey got by Zucal for second and Lapicki regained second two laps later. By halfway Zucal moved to second and put the pressure on Dealaman while father Scott grabbed third. As the checkered flag waved for Matt Zucal would hold on for second followed by Scott Delaman, Ton Hennessey, Mike Lapicki, and Scott Dinin.

In feature two Delaman took the early lead followed by Hennessey, and Scott Dinin. Lap seven Dinin made the move on Hennessey for second putting the pressure on Delaman. As the laps wound down Dinin mounted a strong run on Dealaman but did not have quite enough to catch the red 07. Delaman took his second win of the day followed by Dinin, Tom Hennessey, Ricky Raisner Jr., and Scott Delaman.

Today’s action saw Don Zrinski take the point lead in TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints and Justin Zucal the new leader in All-star Slingshots. Rob Vivona remains leader in Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints while Tim VanHorn holds his lead in XCEL 600 Modifieds.

Saylorsburg, PA., August 6th, 2012:  The rained out heats and features for Dirt 600 Sprints, TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints, and All-Star Slingshots for this Saturday only will be run before the Kart and MicroStock program.

Early practice will start at 1:30 p.m. followed by a driver’s meetings for all divisions at 2:00 p.m.

Following the driver’s meetings Open Wheel practice, heats, and features will be run for the make up show from last week.

At the completion of the make up show we will go into this week’s complete show starting as normal with the Karts and MicroStocks.

We will be running this schedule for this week only in order to give the Open Wheel teams time to get ready for the second show.

Saylorsburg, PA., August 4th, 2012:  With the Karts and MicroStock program pulling off the track and the Open Wheel cars ready to take hot laps the skies opened washing out the remainder of the racing program at Borgers Speedway. Next Saturday August 11, race fans will be treated to a full Kart and MicroStock show plus two complete Dirt 600 Sprints, TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints, and All-star Slingshots consisting of two complete sets of heats and features. There will be no additional grandstand admission.

As the 2012 point season enters it’s final month the point battle in the four open wheel divisions is up for grabs in all divisions.

Hoosier Racing Tires TQ/Asphalt Sprints finds Matt Janisch holding a slim lead over Don Zrinski with Blu Metz third.

Hoosier Racing Tires Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints finds Rob Vivona in the lead with a stubborn Mike Fillbrunn within striking distance. Matt Janisch is third.

All-star Slingshots are headed up by Jason Harman with Justin Zucal rapidly closing the gap. Bob Nenstiel, Al Hauptman, and Tom Hennessey are within thirteen points of each other for third spot.

Hoosier Racing Tires XCEL 600 Modifieds shows Tim VanHorn as the leader by ninety points over Scott Washburn. BJ Scherff is a mere eight points behind for third and Kyle Kocher forty seven points behind Scherff for fourth.

The final five races will prove to be a real nail biter for all divisions which will make Borgers Speedway racing history in crowning the first Asphalt Point Champions.

Regular season points will end on September 1 followed by September 8 and 15 as non point races in preparation for the big Borgers Speedway Fall Spectacular. A six race series will start September 22 and will conclude on October 27. Sponsorship is being secured and details will be released shortly.

With the conclusion of the Fall Spectacular racing will continue into November at Borger Speedway. Speedway owner and promoter Glenn Borger. “Our plans are to race until the snow flies as long as the racers and fans continue to come out. We are looking for big things to happen during the Fall Spectacular as some of the other tracks will be closing down for the season giving their drivers an opportunity to give our asphalt a try. Tire wear which is the big concern has not been a problem and with us allowing the asphalt slicks on the Dirt 600’s many teams are getting at least four races to a right rear. Come try our asphalt and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.”

Borgers Speedway will be running paid practice sessions January 12 and January 26 for anyone preparing for the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bowl or anyone wishing to get a jump start on the 2013 racing season. If our season were to end before the December Indoor races we will schedule a practice day if weather permits.

Saylorsburg, PA., July 29th, 2012:  As heavy rains moved into the area Borgers Speedway finished just ahead of the weather with two new feature winners entering victory lane. Al Hauptman and Ronnie Molnar added their names to the record books in AllStar Slingshots and XCEL 600 Modifieds.

Al Hauptman won the sprint to turn one in AllStar Slingshots followed by Justin Zucal and Tom Hennessey. Hennessey got by Zucal on lap five as Hauptman increased his lead as Zucal held on to third spot Scott Dinin joined the pack. By half way Hauptman set a blistering pace increasing his lead over Hennessey. Hauptman took starter Chris Walk’s checkered flag followed by Hennessey, Zucal, Dinin, and Mike Lapicki.

In Hoosier Racing Tires Xcel 600 Modifieds Ronnie Molnar made his first stop in Borgers Speedway victory lane. Shaun Burd took the early lead followed by Molnar and Tim VanHorn. Lap three Molnar made the pass for the lead followed by VanHorn. By half way Burd regained second with his sights set on Molnar. With Burd putting the pressure on Molnar it was anyone’s race and with three to go Burd was on Molnar’s rear bumper. Molnar held strong taking his first checkered flag followed by Burd and Tim Van Horn.

Coming of his first heat win Joe Agnello led the field to the green flag in Hoosier Racing tires Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints. In a wild move from fourth starting spot Rob Vivons took the lead coming out of turn two on lap one. As Vivona increased his lead a torrid battle between Agnello and Mike Fillbrunn erupted which lasted throughout the race with Fillbrunn getting by in the closing laps. Vivona notched another win followed by Mike Fillbrunn, Joe Agnello, and Ed Wilberger Sr.

Saylorsburg, PA., July 22nd, 2012:  Walt Mueller and Tom Ervin Top 35 Car Borgers MicroStock Big Show Thriller. Dave McCollough Wins First AllStar Slingshot Main. Vivona, Janisch, Kocher Repeat.

MicroStock Racing is alive and well at Borgers Speedway. When you mention the word MicroStock to racers Don Boonstra and Dave Parker the passion runs high. In the short time of three weeks Boonstra and Parker, both accomplished racers, along with a solid and determined staff put together the MicroStock Big Show at Borgers. With a combined Borgers purse and sponsorship money more then $1200 was up for grabs.

A record breaking field of 35 MicroStocks took to the Borgers Speedway asphalt and put on one of the most exciting shows of the Borgers Asphalt era. Comments such as “Borgers is the Daytona of MicroStock racing” and “the greatest field of Microstocks since the days of Pine Brook and Flemington” were among the many comments heard.

Walt Mueller took the Animal feature followed by John Rakos, Wayne Kremm, Roger Snyder, and Josh Hoser. Tom Ervin bested the World formula Microstocks followed by Jeff Weinecker, Dave Parker, Noel Scheffer, Gary Scheffer.

Borgers Speedway would like to thank everyone involved with the MicroStock program for putting on a fantastic show. Look for more of this great racing in the future. Dave McCollough decided to give the Borgers Speedway asphalt a try and it proved to be a good decision as Dave won his first

AllStar Slingshot feature. Tom Hennessey led the field to the green flag but it was McCollough winning the sprint to turn one followed by Hennessey and Justin Zucal. Zucal got by Hennessey on lap two followed by Greg Zellmen. Zellman made the pass on Zucal for second on lap six and took chase on McCollough. As the laps wound down Zellman closed the gap to about three car lengths but could not catch the high flying McCollough. McCollough took his first win followed by Zellman, Tom Hennessey, Justin Zucal, and Mike Lapicki.

Rob Vivona led every lap to continue his winning ways in Hoosier Racing Tires Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints. Matt Janisch was second followed by Mike Fillbrunn and Joe Yaccarino. In Hoosier Racing Tires TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints Matt Janisch took the win over Don Zrinski, Stephen Boland , and Jon Cortright. Kyle Kocher won the Hoosier Racing tires XCEL 600 Modified win over Tim VanHorn, Korey Inglin, and Shaun Burd.

Two time Borgers Speedway AllStar Slingshot Champion and Senior Statesman Stan Friedman took in Saturdays action at the track. Stan was looking great and getting the itch to race. Stan said “maybe next year.” Everyone at Borgers Speedway wishes Stan a full and speedy recovery.

Saylorsburg, PA., July 14th, 2012:  Sixty five year old Bill Force Sr. was racing long before Danny Berlitz was born but this day these two racers lives interconnected in a big way with Force winning his first TQ feature event at Borgers and Berlitz doing the same in the AllStar Slingshots.

With the paving of Borgers Speedway this past winter racing was starting from the ground up. We know it will be a long haul and one of our goals is to recreat the racing that happened years ago at the Pine Brook Speedway. In the past month Pine Brook veteran Don Zrinski won two TQ feature events and now it was another verteren Bill Force Sr. to do the same.

In Hoosier Racing tires TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints Don Zrinski made it first to turn one followed by Blu Metz and Force. The caution waved on lap two as Metz and Zrinski got together in turn one. On the restart Metz took the lead followed by Force. Metz held the lead until two to go when Force made the pass for the lead and the win. Force took his first win followed by Metz and Zrinski.

The drop of the green in the AllStar Slingshot feature saw pole sitter Danny Berlitz win the sprint to turn two followed by his father Dan Berlitz and Scott Dinin.

Soon the son and father hooked up in a side by side battle for the lead. Scott Dinin was to have none of this and soon joined the hunt. As Danny opened a slight lead over his father contact was made with Dan Berlitz and Dinin. Dinin took over second spot with his sights set on Danny Berlitz and took the lead on lap ten. Dinin held the lead until five to go when Danny Berlitz made the pass for the lead and took starter Mike Eckhardt’s checkered flag. Dinin was a close second followed by Dan Berlitz.

Hoosier Racing Wingles 600 Sprints saw Rob Vivona continue his winning ways. Vivona led from the pole followed by Matt Janisch and Mike Fillbrunn. Matt Janisch took the lead on lap two but Vivona regained the lead on lap eight and took the win followed by Fillbrunn and Janisch.

MICROSTOCK BIG SHOW AT BORGERS SPEEDWAY JULY 21ST

Saylorsburg, PA., July 13th, 2012:  Along with the TQ Midgets, MicroStocks shared the card during the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s at Pinebrook Speedway in northern New Jersey. With the popular speedway closing in 1989 the MicroStocks could not regain car counts they had enjoyed at Pine Brook. In recent years the popularity of MicroStocks has rebounded and Saturday July 21 on the 1/7 mile asphalt oval at Borgers Speedway in Saylorsburg, Pa the World Formula MicroStocks and the MicroStock Racing Series will combine forces in what could very well be the biggest MicroStock happening in the history of the sport.

With over 40 cars expected and a total purse including additional sponsorship which will exceed $1000, Borgers Speedway will be a virtual Who’s who in the world of MicroStock racing.

Gates will open at 11:00 a.m. with early practice at 1:15 p.m. A driver’s meeting will be held at 1:50 p.m. followed by an additional practice session and MicroStock and Kart heats. After heats a Open Wheel early practice will take place followed by the MicroStock and Kart features.

Also on the card is the regular Borgers Speedway full show of Karts, TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints, Dirt Wingless 600 Sprints, AllStar and Junior Slingshots, and XCEL 600 Modifieds.

Saylorsburg, PA., July 1st, 2012:  When you can say you beat the hottest TQ racer in the northeast Matt Janisch you have something to brag about. Don Zrinski was a regular and a winner at the Pine Brook Speedway thirty five years ago before Janisch was born. Zrinski won his last TQ feature at Wall Stadium in the 1990’s but today at Borgers Speedway he did what many others try to do in vain beating Matt Janisch. In Hoosier Racing Tires TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints Zrinski charged to the lead in turn one followed by Janisch and AJ Fuge. From the get go Zrinski was strong holding off numerous challenges by Janisch. In the closing laps Janisch stuck to Zrinski’s rear bumper but did not have enough to take the lead from the high flying Zrinski. Zrinski took the win followed by Janisch and AJ Fuge.

Hoosier Racing tires Dirt Wingless 600 Sprints saw Matt Janisch take the win but Rob Vivona took the $200 Metz Racing Rides For Rent, Blairstown Aviation, Borgers Speedway Bonus for the highest finisher running dirt tires on all four corners. Janisch held the lead from the start and never looked back. Vivona finished second followed by Mike Fillburn, Joe Yaccarino, and Tex Snyder.

In All-Star Slingshots Jason Harman continued his winning ways once again visiting Borgers Speedway victory lane. Harman held the lead from the pole with Mike Lapicki taking chase. As Harman and Lapicki pulled away the battle was for second place between Justin Zucal and Al Hauptman. Harman took the win followed by Lapicki with Zucal edging out Hauptman at the wire followed by Ton Hennessey.

Scott Washburn notched another win in Hoosier Racing Tires XCEL 600 Modifieds. It was Washburn, Kyle Kocher and Shaun Burd until lap six when Burd made the pass for second. From then on it was a two car battle for the lead between Washburn and Burd with Burd getting under Washburn a number of times but no having enough to pull off the win. Washburn took starter Bobby Stull’s checkered flag followed by Burd, Kocher, Tim VanHorn, and Roland Molnar.

Evan Van Valkenburg took his first Junior Slingshot win.

Saylorsburg, PA., June 23rd, 2012:  Jason Harman has set up residence in Borgers Speedway victory lane and Saturday he added another first to his resume by winning the AllStar Slingshot Tour race at Borgers Speedway plus he did it on his birthday. It was Matt Delaman first to turn one followed by Harman and Joe Bodenschatz. Dealaman held the lead until Harman got by on lap five. Three laps later Matt Mertz made the move on Bodenshatz for third.

By the half way mark Ryan Raidline moved to fourth until lap seventeen when a mix up in the front pack rearranged the running order. This moved Cody Kline to second spot . The remaining eight laps featured some good three abreast racing and with Dealaman on his tail Kine tried his best but could not catch Harman. Harman took the win followed by Kline, Dealaman, Matt Mertz, and John Bockhorn.

In Hoosier Racing tires Dirt Wingless 600 Sprints Rob Vivona jumped to an early lead followed by Matt Janisch and Mike Filbrunn. The leaders battled side by side until Janisch made the pass on Vivona to take the lead on lap six. Vivona used every trick in the book to catch Janisch but it was not to be. Janish took the checkered flag followed by Vivona, Fillbrun, and Blu Metz.

Matt Janisch continued to sweep the open wheel divisions by winning the Hoosier Racing Tires TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints. Janisch led the field to the green flag followed by Darren Schuler and Blu Metz. The top three battled for the lead until Metz spun on lap seven bringing out the yellow. On the restart Schuler moved in behind Janisch but now Don Zrinski was making his presence known. By half way Zrinski got by Schuler and had his sights set on Janisch. As Zrinski put the pressure on Janisch Metz was charging through the pack from the rear and regained third place. With Zrinski closing the gap Janisch held on to take the win by one car length. Zrinski was scond followed by Metz, Schuler and AJ Fuge.

Saylorsburg, PA., June 21st, 2012:  Glenn Borger owner and operator of Borgers Speedway proudly welcomes the Slingshot MA Gold Tour race Saturday June 23. Forced to pave the speedway over the winter by order of the courts Glenn Borger has created the finest 1/7 mile asphalt speedway in the eastern United States. Starting over from ground up car counts are raising under the direction of Glenn Borger and a bright future is guaranteed.

Gates open at 12:00 noon with the Kart and MicroStock show run in it’s entirety. The Slingshot show will start between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. An extended practice session will be held for the Slingshots and Open Wheel cars to allow for the Slingshots to make the adjustment to asphalt.

Slingshot Tires. There can be no big tire use on the front at Borgers. The front tires must be the 6.50 tires. The Big Slick can not be used on the right rear. The recommended tire set up is 6.50’s on the front and left rear with a saw tooth on the right rear. Asphalt tires are allowed but no Big Slick on the right rear. Dirt tires have been used successfully all season with very minimal tire wear.

Borgers Speedway guarantees $200 to win regardless of car count and up to $300 to win with car count. $20 is guaranteed even if you do not start the heats or feature.

Saylorsburg, PA., June 16th, 2012:  Matt Janisch made it win number two in the Hoosier Racing Tires TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints but it was not an easy task. Karting standout Ryan Breithoff in his first appearance in a TQ Midget turned in a stellar performance in giving the veteran Janisch a run for the gold. Janisch led the charge to turn one with Blu Metz and Breithoff on his rear bumper. Lap two Breithoff made his presence known grabbing second spot from Metz in turn two. This set up a three battle for the lead with Breithoff getting under Janisch a number of times but not having enough to make the pass. Janisch took starter Bobby Stull’s checkered flag followed by Breithoff, Metz, Stephen Boland, and Mike Trimble.

In Hoosier Racing Tires Dirt Wingless 600 Sprints Rob Vivona led every lap to take the win over Mike Fillbrunn and Jonathon Cortright.

In All-star Slingshots Jason Harman led every lap to win over Justin Zucal, and Isaiah Masker.

Kyle Kocher became a first time winner at Borgers Spedway in Hoosier Racing tires XCEL 600 MOdifieds. BJ Scherff took the early lead followed by Kocher and Scott Washburn. Kocher grabbed the lead on lap nine as Washburn moved to second the next lap. This is how it stayed until Washburn was black flagged on lap fourteen with a broken brake rotar moving Scherff to second and Tim Van Horn third. Kocher held the lead taking his first checkered flag followed by Scherff, Van Horn, Jason Dunkleberger, and Roland Molner.

Moving into the summer racing season with car counts on the rise special events are in the planning stages which will be announced shortly. Co-promoter Bob Snyder. “We knew the transformation to asphalt would be starting from the ground up and we are pleased where we are at this point. Of course we would like bigger car counts but this is about where we expected to be at this point. By August we feel we will be adding a bunch of cars to the TQ and Sprint divisions and will be where we had projected between 15 to 20 cars or better. We also are expecting to see new faces in the Slingshot and XCEL Modified classes. We also are looking at bringing in some additional classes.”

“Speedway owner Glenn Borger. “I have made a major investment in the future of Borgers Speedway. This is my “Field Of Dreams” and we are definitely in it for the long run. The neighbors thought they could stop me but the racing community rallied behind me and we showed them they are not going to stop racing people. I have a staff of workers behind me that have their hearts in Borgers Speedway and we will only get bigger and better.”

The Kart and Micro Stock program is also building strong car counts. Champ Karts have been leading the way with the Karts along with the Kid Kart class. Regular Open Kart classes are also building.

When Pine Brook Speedway closed many people thought the MicroStocks were a thing of the past. Not so at Borgers Speedway. Bob Snyder “We are very pleased with the support we are getting from the MicroStocks noting that two weeks ago we had around 25 cars. The MicroStocks are putting on a tremendous show and if you loved them at Pine Brook you will love them at Borgers.”

Our goal is to make Borgers Speedway the “Pine Brook of the Poconos. “ Pine Brook packed the house with huge fields of TQ’s and MicroStocks and we intend to give those loyal drivers and fans a place to race on a weekly basis with quality racing close to home. Atlantic City is drawing large fields of cars so there is no question there are drivers out there looking for a place to race.”

“With gas prices as high as they are and Borgers being rather close to where Pine Brook was located we are looking to recreate an era of racing that was dear to many people’s hearts right in their backyards.”

Racing starts every Saturday with the Kart and MicroStock show starting at 2:00 p.m. running their show in its entirety. The first Open Wheel warm-up session is held after the Kart and MicroStock heats and the second warm-up session and the Open Wheel show after the Kart and MicroStock features which is usual around 4:00 p.m.

From the drop of the green it was a three car battle for the lead with Leote, Rob Vivona, and Don Zrinski. As the top three battled side by side the veteran Don Zrinski made the pass on lap ten for second place. The remaining fifteen laps produced the hardest fought action in TQ racing this season at Borger’s. With Zrinski on Leote’s tail the laps ticked off with Leote edging Zrinski at the checkered flag. Rob Vivona, Glenn Heyerin, and Joe Prybelinski rounded out the top five.

Rob Vivona showed his rear bumper to the rest of the Hoosier Racing Tires Dirt Wingless 600 Sprints with Mike Fillbrunn and Jon Cortright in hot pursuit. On lap nineteen Joe Yaccarino made the pass for third and it would end with Vivona taking the win followed by Fillbrunn, Yaccarino, and Cortright.

All-star Slingshots saw Jason Harman return to victory lane followed by JR Fulper, John Bockhorn, and Justin Zucal.

Hoosier Racing tires XCEL 600 Modifieds saw Scott Washburn make it win number three followed by Kyle Locher, Tim VanHorn, and Roland Molnar.

Saturday June 23rd the Dirt 600 Sprints will be allowed to run Asphalt Slicks in competition at Borger’s Speedway. If the June 16^th show were to be rained out the Slicks will be moved back one week to June 30.

BORGER'S 600 SPRINTS AND TQ'S

Saylorsburg, PA., June 7th, 2012:  Borger's speedway is looking at ways to help keep the expense of racing under control and put the fun back in racing. What we have found is the D25 tire that 600s are using that is readily available wears out too quickly. The harder D35 tire that Hoosier has on their website has been discontinued. The only real option is to allow the use of slicks to give teams an option of running a tire that can last for several weeks. Borgers Speedway is planning to transitioning to pavement tires for the dirt 600 micro sprint division. We have decided to allow the use of an LC5 Hoosier slick on the right rear as well as slicks on the other corners. Slicks will not be mandated so anyone with a supply of dirt tires can race them and teams from dirt tracks can come and race with their dirt tires. Teams can mix and match slick and dirt tires on their cars. for example a pair of slicks on the rear and dirt tires up front or any combination will be permitted. The slicks will not be allowed for one race weeks to give teams who have already purchased dirt tires time to use up what they have.

After being contacted by several TQ teams regarding the cost of racing Borgers Speedway is going to mandate the use of the factory rev limiter settings in the TQ division as well as using the Atlantic City indoor fuel specifications where exotic fuels are not permitted. The track is doing this in an effort to keep the cost of racing in line and help put the fun back in racing. If engine RPM’s are kept in check it will hopefully prevent engine failures and add longevity to one of each team’s largest single expenses, which is their engine program. The rev limiter provision will be a work in progress until a solid number can be established for each year of engine. If it is found that an engine configuration has a significant advantage an adjustment will be made to help keep everyone competitive. this isn’t any re-invention of the wheel. the Xcell Modifieds and 600 Micro sprints have had rev limiter specifications in place for years. The track is giving a two week grace period to teams to adjust to these rules.

Doug Borger will work with track officials on doing both fuel and rev limiter tech.

Each of the divisions appear to have a bit of a gentlemen’s agreement that has been helping everyone remain competitive and save money with regard to tires. We haven’t seen teams regularly putting on more than one sticker tire per race meet. Management of the speedway hopes to see that trend continue. It keeps costs in line when a team doesn’t feel like they need to put on 4 sticker tires each week in order to have a chance to win a race. as long as teams are following this guideline no specific rule limiting tires will be put in place.

The goal is to keep the cost of racing in line. We all want to have a chance to compete and win races. If it can be done in a way that is economical hopefully Borger's Speedway will attract more teams to try out the pavement and increase car counts in all divisions. Keeping the cost of racing in line is truly the objective. If anyone has suggestions for further ways to help contain the high cost of racing please bring them forth.

Saylorsburg, PA., June 2nd, 2012:  A first time winner and three repeat winners graced Borger's victory lane on a crisp, cool Saturday ushering in the summer racing season at Borger’s Speedway.

Darren Schuler became a first time winner in the Hoosier Racing Tires TQ/Wingless Asphalt 600 feature event. Matt Janisch jumped to an early lead followed by Mike Tidaback and Darren Shuler until lap ten when Tidaback lost a motor. On the restart Janisch got over the wheel of Schuler and flipped wildly down the front straightaway bring out the red flag. On the restart Schuler took command and held the lead taking his first checkered flag of the 2012 season. Mike Trimble was second followed by Matt Janisch, Don Zrinski, and Mike Tidaback.

Jason Harman once again made his presence known in Borgers victory lane winning the AllStar Slingshot feature. Harman led the field to turn one followed by Bob Nenstiel and Justin Zucal. Al Hauptman made the pass on Zucal for third on lap four with Zucal regaining third on lap nine. Harman led every lap to take the win followed by Nenstiel, Zucal, Ricky Raisner, and Hauptmann.

Scott Washburn made it win number two in Hoosier Racing tires XCEL 600 Modifieds. Pole sitter Doub Borger won the sprint to turn one followed by Washburn and John Lakatos. BJ Scherff made the pass for third on lap five while Borger and Washburn battled for the lead. Washburn took command on lap ten and held the lead to the finish followed by Borger, Scherff, Kyle Kocher, and Tim VanHorn.

Rob Vivona seems to have found a home in Borgers victory lane winning his fourth Hoosier Racing tires Wingless Dirt 600 Sprint main. Vivona was first to turn one followed by Matt Janisch and Mike Fillbrunn. The top three spots stayed the same with Vivona and Janisch fighting for the lead until lap seventeen when Mike Fillbrunn was black flagged for leaking oil moving Mark Yoder to third. In the remaining laps Vivona and Janisch fought for the lead but Janisch ran out of laps and could not catch the high flying Vivona who led every lap. Janisch was second followed by Yoder, Joe Agnello, and Jon Cortright.

Saylorsburg, PA., May 27th, 2012:  There is absolutely no truth to the rumor going around that Borgers Speedway will be allowing Asphalt Slicks to be used starting in two weeks in the Wingless Dirt 600 Sprint class. Borgers Speedway would never change a rule like this without first discussing it with the drivers. Adjusting to the asphalt surface is a work in progress and so far tire wear has not been an issue. We are still racing on a green track and as the surface wears in changes could be made in the future to adjust. If at some point a change were to be made this would be phased in over a period of time to allow drivers to use the tires they have.

Our purpose of the Wingless Dirt 600 class is to allow a competitor that races at other tracks the opportunity to give Borgers a try with making a very minimal amount of changes to the car and not having to buy a set of tires just to try the track. If at some point tire wear would become excessive, which at this point is no more and in many cases less then tire wear that some dirt tracks are experiencing we will address the issue.

Also to clarify any misunderstanding pit passes and entry fee from the May 26 rainout will be honored one time within the next four races instead of the normal two race procedure. We understand people are traveling a great distance in some cases and can not always make it in the two week period.

Keep in mind Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints, TQ/Wingless Asphalt 600 Sprints, All-Star and Junior Slings, and XCEL 600 Modifieds are guaranteed at least $20 even if you don’t take the green plus $200 to win regardless of car count and up to $300 to win with car count. Junior Slingshots are excluded from the $200 to win.

MOTHER NATURE TAKES THE CHECKERED FLAG AT BORGER'S

Saylorsburg, PA., May 26th, 2012:  With 70 plus cars signed into the pits at Borgers Speedway Mother Nature turned out to be the only person to visit victory lane Saturday May 26. The largest field of the season had just started heats when the first severe cell hit the speedway. The storm knocked out power in the Saylorsburg area and the speedway generator also took a lightning strike tripping the breakers. Track crews had just dried the track as the power came back on and the area was hit by another severe storm canceling the show.

With only three heats completed management decided to scrub the entire show and start over next week. All entry fees will be good for next week only. Hold on to your pit pass wrist band as they must be used in the next four weeks instead of the normal two weeks.

Racing resumes next Saturday June 2 with Kart and Micro Stock practice at 2:00 p.m. followed by their heats and features.

Following the Karts and Micro Stocks the Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints, TQ/Asphalt Wingless 600 Sprints, All-Star Slingshots, and XCEL 600 Modifieds take to the track for their show. All Big Car classes are guaranteed $200 to win regardless of car count and up to $300 to win with car count.

Saylorsburg, PA., May 19th, 2012:  To say Matt Janisch was hot on this hot afternoon is putting it mildly. Janisch swept the Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints and then returned to victory lane in the Three Quarter Midget feature.

Hoosier Racing Tires Wingless Dirt 600 Sprints were first on Janisch’s hit list as Mike Fillbrunn coming off his first heat win lead the field to turn one. Soon Janisch was on Fillbrunn’s tail followed by Rob Vivona. Fillbrunn held the lead until lap 4 when Janmisch took control. As Janisch pulled away Fillbrunn and Vivona duked it out for second spot with Vivona making the pass at the half way mark. In the closing laps Vivona closed the gap on Janisch but Janisch held strong and took starter Bobby Stull’s checkered Flag. Vivona finished second followed by Fillbrunn, Joe Yaccarino, and Joe Agnello.

Stephen Boland took one of the most spectacular flips in the history of Borger’s Speedway in heat one. Boland was uninjured but now has the distinction of being the first person to flip on the Borger’s Speedway asphalt.

If winning the Dirt 600 Sprints was not enough Janisch came back to repeat his feat in the Hoosier Racing Tires TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprint main. Bruce Leote led the charge to turn one followed by Blu Metz and Matt Janisch. Janisch picked off Metz the next lap and had his sights set on Leote. As the two leaders battled side by side Janisch took over the lead on lap twelve and held it to the finish. Leote held the runner up spot followed by Metz, Rob Vivona, and Darren Schuler.

Jason Harman scored back to back wins in All Star Slingshots repeating his previous week’s win. Harman took the lead on lap one followed by Greg Zellman and Bob Nenstiel. As Harman increased his lead the battle was for second with Zellman and Nenstiel. Harman led every lap to take the win followed by Zellman, Nenstiel, and Mike Moyer.

Hoosier Racing Tires XCEL 600 Modifieds saw BJ Scherff return to victory lane for the second time this season. Right from the get go it was a Scherff-Washburn battle for the lead with the leaders swapping spots numerous times. In the closing laps Wasburn got into a lapped car on the backstretch but on the restart quickly moved through the pack to challenge Scherff. Scherff took the win followed by Washburn, Tim VAnHorn, Kyle Kocher, and Shawn Horning.

Isaih Masker took the Junior Slingshot win.

Next Saturday May 26 Borgers Speedway will have a Hot Dog and T-Shirt give away. Everyone entering the pits and the grandstand area will receive a ticket and numbers will be called out throughout the day for Hot Dogs and T-Shirts.
